Division Responsibilities:
Special Operations Division primarily focuses is on traffic enforcement, especially in school zones and areas where numerous traffic complaints are called in by citizens. We also handle traffic control for Pct 3 road construction jobs and for special events such as parades, fun runs and activities which require closing a street. We provide high visibility patrol in neighborhoods where an unusual amount of robberies, burglaries or other serious crimes have been reported. We conduct searches for missing persons and fugitives. Community involvement through the G.R.E.A.T. program and public awareness seminars on topics of interest to civic clubs and other organizations. Special Operations also assists other agencies with "zero tolerance" operations and other events which require crowd control and protecting visiting dignitaries.
