Harris County no longer provides a list of approved radios. Harris County now relies on the Project 25 (P25) Compliance Assessment Program (CAP) to verify any manufacture’s radios interoperability for Project 25. Project 25 refers to a suite of TIA (Telecommunication Industry Association) standards for digital radio communications. Manufactures have invested significant technical resources to develop P25 and TIA standard radio platforms to enable standard based interoperable communications. Any two way radio manufacture that designed to the Project 25 Standard and has passed the CAP testing, are meeting our customers’ needs for mission critical communication and therefore should work on the Regional Radio System.
However, Harris County does require that all new radios activated now contain options that include RADIO AUTHENTICATION and PHASE II TDMA
