The Precinct 2 Warrant Detectives are responsible for clearing all warrants that are filed in the two Justice of the Peace Courts in Precinct 2 . Class C warrants could be anything from a traffic citation, theft of service, and truancy to issuance of a bad check.
Constable Christopher E. Diaz is concerned that the merchants in Precinct 2 not only have a way of recovering their loss but that his office does everything possible to help in this recovery. Constable Diaz knows that just putting the defendants in jail does not help when you, the merchant or individual have suffered a financial loss.
This is why Detectives from his office not only locate the offenders, but also assist the merchant or individual in recovering restitution for their financial loss.
On several occasions it has come to our attention that the individual that was charged with issuance of a bad check may not be the person who committed this offense, but alleges that his name was forged. This is why Constable Diaz has cross-trained his Detectives in the areas of forgery and counterfeiting of checks. Constable Diaz Warrant Detectives worked for over a year on just one counterfeit ring, which involved washing checks that were stolen from citizens in Precinct 2. This resulted in the arrest of over 30 individuals.
