DEPARTMENT:             Harris County Precinct One

Parks Department – South Region

HOURS:                        40 Hours per Week/Flexible

SALARY:                      Starting $11.50 per Hour

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:  General experience in grounds maintenance and operating mowing equipment are preferred. 

JOB SKILLS: A valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record is required. Must obtain a Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) “Class B” within 90 days of hire. Good knowledge of tools, materials, equipment, and procedures required to perform tasks. Ability to operate a tractor, mower and other power equipment is preferred. Must also be able to follow written and oral instructions, and work well with others.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Caretakers, under the general supervision of the park manager, participates in the maintenance and upkeep of grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment in the park.  Trims and mows grounds; cuts weeds; rakes leaves and rubbish; picks up litter and trash; prepares grounds for expansion of facilities; paints and repairs playground equipment, tables and benches; cleans restrooms, sidewalks, buildings, equipment, floors, and makes minor repairs to buildings. Performs related work as assigned. Requires good physical condition and agility needed to perform strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions.
