JOB TITLE: Reference Assistant Part-Time

HOURS: 20 Hours per Week
Includes Nights and Saturdays As Needed
SALARY: $1,502.80 per Month
Based on 26 Pay Periods
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
EXPERIENCE: No experience is required. Experience with computers is preferred.
JOB SKILLS: The successful candidate must be customer service oriented, possess good communication skills; enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment and works well with teens, the public and library staff. Must be proficient in the use of microcomputers, Microsoft Office Suite programs and have the ability to organize work priorities. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Works under the supervision of the Co-Director. Provides reader’s advisory and basic reference service; assists customers with library computers and associated software, such as the library catalog, searching the Internet and online databases, and operating the Microsoft Office Suite programs. Assists customers with use of equipment such as debit card dispensers, printers, photocopiers, microfiche readers/printers, and reservation computers; troubleshoots equipment problems. Works with the Co-Director and other professional staff to maintain the materials collection; assists with library displays and public relations as assigned. Organizes and oversees the work of the adult library volunteers; coordinates the literacy and ELS (English as a Second Language) programs. Interprets and implements library policies and procedures for library customers. Works well with the public and library staff. Organizes work priorities. Attends and participates in training, conferences and committees; obtains a minimum of 10 training hours per calendar year; performs other duties as assigned.
