JOB TITLE: Branch Librarian

HOURS: 40 Hours per Week
Includes Nights & Saturdays As Needed
SALARY: $5,616.00 per Month
Based on 26 Pay Periods
EDUCATION: A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school is required.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a professional librarian is required. Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
JOB SKILLS: The successful candidate must have the ability to supervise staff and organize work priorities. Must be customer service oriented, possess good communications skills, enjoy working in fast-paced team environment and has the ability to work well with the public.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Directly supervises the Assistant Librarian for Adult Services, the Assistant Librarian for Children’s Services and Circulation Services Manager. Oversees the interviewing, training, supervising, scheduling and evaluating of all library staff members; sets library goals and priorities, and builds a strong staff team oriented toward providing excellent customer service. Acts as a liaison between the library and the library administration, and between the library and other branches; interprets and implements library policies and procedures for library customers and staff. Provides reader's advisory and reference services including on-line computer searching where applicable; provides information necessary for development of the library’ annual budget; compiles, tabulates and analyzes statistics; identifies and communicates building maintenance needs. Develops an ongoing and highly visible public relations program; builds rapport with community organizations. Acts as a liaison to the Friends of the Library organization; responsible for the handling of monetary gifts and other donations made to the library, and the expenditure of the library’s gift funds. Coordinates the development and maintenance of the library’s materials collection; Attends monthly meetings of branch librarians; attends and participates in professional activities, training, conferences and committees; maintains an awareness of professional trends, methods and ethics; performs other work as needed
