JOB TITLE:                  Digital Media & Graphic Design Specialist

 

DEPARTMENT:            Harris County Precinct Four

                                    Communications Division

                                   

HOURS:                       8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

                                    Monday - Friday

                                   

SALARY:                      Will Be Discussed During Departmental Interview

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: An Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school OR a Bachelor’s degree is required. Two (2) to five (5) years of professional working experience is required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design or Information Technology is preferred. Must possess working knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) and professional photography and video. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) are required. The successful applicant must be familiar with HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript. Must have a good understanding of best practices in web development standards and trends, including mobile and responsive web design. Must possess strong attention to detail, color theory, layout and typography. Database management and file maintenance skills are required.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Contributes to the overall online strategy and brand by performing daily operations and content updates associated with the delivery of news and information through the website, social media avenues, and online and print publications; creates graphic artwork for use in a variety of Communications products. Works closely with the Director of Communications in the placement of news and information online and monitors audience activity and site performance. Updates web content; writes and posts online material; maintains social media outlets; assists with email outreach. Designs graphic artwork for use in print and online material. Organizes and maintains graphics, photography, video files, information and resources. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL: While performing the duties of the job, the employee regularly stands, walks, sits, hears, talks, feels, and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific near vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Works in outside weather conditions; hot or cold. The noise level in the working environment is usually moderate.
