JOB TITLE:                  Community Supervision Officer - Bilingual

 

DEPARTMENT:            Community Supervision & Corrections

 

HOURS:                       40 Hours per Week 

 

SALARY:                     $2,439.00 per Month

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelor’s degree conferred by an institution of higher education by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; unless the Bachelor’s degree is in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, Counseling, Human Services Development, Law, Law Enforcement, Police Science, Pre-law, Public Administration, Rehabilitative Studies, Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology, One (1) year of graduate study in one of those fields; OR one year of experience in full-time casework, counseling, community or group work is required.

 

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years or more of experience as a State Certified Community Supervision Officer is preferred but not required.

 

(A Community Supervision Officer in Texas cannot be employed as a peace officer or work as a reserve or volunteer peace officer; and cannot be currently on community supervision, parole, or serving a sentence for a criminal offense.)

 

JOB SKILLS: Must be bilingual in English and Spanish; both oral and written.  A valid driver's license is required. (Must obtain a Texas driver’s license before date of hire) Will train candidates that meet the minimum requirements and possess the skills needed to be a Community Supervision Officer.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Provides responsible supervision to assigned probationers to ensure compliance with court ordered conditions thereby, providing a service to the Courts of Harris County, the community and the offenders.  Makes outside face-to-face and collateral contact with probationers as required. Conducts field visits during evening and weekend hours. Collects urine samples from same sex clients according to established policies and procedures as needed.

 

 

Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background check.

 

 

MUST PASS CSO STATE OF TEXAS CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION WITHIN ONE YEAR OF APPOINTMENT.  (Failure to pass the test may result in termination.)
