JOB TITLE:                      Shelving Assistant – Part-Time

 

DEPARTMENT:                Library

    Katherine Tyra Branch            

 

HOURS:                           20 Hours per Week

    Includes Evenings & Saturdays As Needed

                                                                       

SALARY:                          $872.73 per Month

                                        Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION:  Two (2) years of high school is required.

 

JOB SKILLS: Must pass the "Clerical Skills Test" with a minimum score of 70%.  The successful candidate must be customer service oriented and have the ability to work well with the public and other library staff; must be physically capable to shelve books and the ability to do so in proper alphabetical order and numerical order. Activity necessary to meet job requirements will require bending, stooping and stretching. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Shelves library materials in proper location and order; keeps shelves neat.  Handles circulation desk activities when assigned; this includes using the computerized circulation system.  Answers telephone as needed.  Cleans and mends library material when assigned; obtains a minimum of 10 training hours per calendar year; performs other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL: This position is subject to frequent bending, stooping and stretching and be physically able to shelve books.

 

EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT ON PASSING A BACKGROUND CHECK.
