Harris County Precinct 7 Constable May Walker is committed to providing high quality, innovative, community oriented services to meet the needs of the diverse neighborhoods located within Precinct 7’s boundaries.
Precinct 7 is spread out over 94.37 miles with an estimated population of over 400,000 residents. Due to its considerable size, convenient location, and growing population, there has also been increase in the number of violent crimes and property crimes. With law enforcement agencies focusing on solving violent crimes and property crimes, sex offenders often go unchecked providing the opportunity for them to commit other crimes.
The Precinct 7 Tracking Neighborhood Sex Offenders Unit works to close the gaps in service created by the increase of criminal activity by tracking and monitoring released sex offenders within its boundaries.
Duties of the Sex Offenders Unit include:
¨ Identifying offenders located in Harris County Precinct 7.
¨ Ensuring that offenders are in compliance with terms of their release.
¨ Reducing recidivism among known sex offenders.
¨ Decreasing sex crimes and violent crimes.
¨ Conducting educational seminars with area schools, women’s groups, community groups, and civic organizations, to raise awareness of the program and sex offenses in general.
